Accessibility Statement

Our commitment

Behaven is committed to making its website accessible to all users, including people with disabilities. We believe that access to information and digital services is a fundamental right and we strive to ensure that our website complies with international accessibility standards.

Legal framework and accessibility standards

European Accessibility Directive

As the website of a private consulting firm, Behaven does not fall within the scope of Directive (EU) 2019/882 on the accessibility requirements for products and services, which primarily concerns e-commerce services, transport, banking services, and audiovisual media.

We are therefore not legally required to comply with this European directive.

Our voluntary commitment

Despite the absence of legal obligation, we have chosen to aim for the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 Level AA, which represent the international reference standards for web accessibility.

This voluntary approach is part of our commitment as a B Corp certified company and reflects our values of sustainability and inclusion. A complete WCAG 2.1 AA conformance audit has been conducted by Jeudimatin and we have implemented numerous accessibility practices in the design and development of our site.

Currently implemented measures

Our website incorporates the following accessibility features:

  • Skip Links: Links to jump directly to main content and navigation, visible on keyboard focus.
  • Keyboard Navigation: All main features are keyboard accessible, with visible focus indicators (colored rings on interactive elements).
  • ARIA Attributes: Over 95 ARIA attributes implemented in the code to improve screen reader experience (aria-label, aria-expanded, aria-live, aria-hidden, etc.).
  • Semantic Roles: Use of ARIA roles (role="main", role="navigation", role="banner") to structure content.
  • Semantic HTML5 Structure: Appropriate use of HTML5 tags for better document structure.
  • Accessible Forms: All form fields have properly associated labels, required field indicators, and clearly visible focus states.
  • Alternative Text: Informative images have alternative descriptions; decorative images are properly marked with alt="" and, in most cases, aria-hidden="true".
  • Animation Reduction: Support for prefers-reduced-motion to respect user preferences regarding animations (automatic reduction of animations to 0.01ms for users sensitive to motion).
  • Screen Reader Classes: Use of .sr-only classes for content intended only for screen readers, with visible focus management.
  • Heading Structure: Logical heading hierarchy to facilitate navigation.
  • Responsive Design: Fluid adaptation to different screen sizes and zoom support up to 200%.
  • Page Language: Lang attribute properly set on pages to identify content language.
  • Accessible Anti-spam Protection: Use of a hidden honeypot field with aria-hidden="true" and tabindex="-1" instead of visual CAPTCHA.

Technologies used

Our website relies on the following technologies for its accessibility:

  • Semantic HTML5
  • CSS3 for layout and design
  • JavaScript for enhanced interactive features
  • ARIA (Accessible Rich Internet Applications) to improve accessibility of dynamic components

Areas for improvement

While our site already incorporates many accessibility features, we recognize the following aspects requiring particular attention:

  • Assistive Technology Testing: The site has only been tested with VoiceOver. Additional testing with other common screen readers (NVDA, JAWS) across different browsers could be beneficial.

  • Multimedia Content: If videos or audio content are present, they may not all have captions, transcripts, or audio descriptions.

  • PDF Documents: Downloadable documents have not been checked for intrinsic accessibility.

Testing Status

To date, we have performed:

  • Keyboard Navigation Tests: Manual verification of main function accessibility via keyboard.
  • Code Inspection: Verification of ARIA attributes, semantic roles, and alternative text presence.
  • Focus Tests: Validation of focus indicator visibility on interactive elements.
  • Screen Reader Testing: Screen reader testing (VoiceOver) has been successfully completed
  • Automated Audit: Automated audit has been completed with Wave and Lighthouse
  • WCAG 2.1 AA Conformance Audit: Complete audit performed by Jeudimatin

We have not yet completed:

  • User testing with people with disabilities

Continuous improvement approach

Following our professional WCAG 2.1 AA conformance audit conducted by Jeudimatin, we continue our improvement efforts:

  • Fix identified issues in priority order
  • Perform additional testing with other screen readers (NVDA, JAWS)
  • Organize user testing with people with disabilities
  • Regularly update this statement based on improvements made
  • Train the team in accessibility best practices to maintain and improve the site's accessibility level
