ConsomAction

Running a workshop to turn bulk-buying intentions into action at the shelf

Circular economy Retail Workshop Consumers Belgium

The Challenge

Plenty of shoppers say they want to buy in bulk to cut packaging, yet sales stay marginal next to pre-packed products. The gap isn’t values, it’s action: unclear in-store journeys, weak social norms and worries about price, quantities and hygiene all get in the way. ConsomAction wanted to close that intention-action gap at the shelf.

Our Approach

We ran a hands-on workshop, “From bulk to action”. Using our Landscape Model™, we mapped the contextual, social and psychological barriers shoppers face, then drew on our Rainbow Wheel™, 8 strategies and 60+ techniques, to shape practical solutions, from clearer three-step instructions and price comparisons to loyalty stamps and customer testimonial walls. Live exercises had the team map barriers and design their own interventions.

The Result

The workshop produced a shared barrier map and a set of concrete, co-created ideas in two streams: attracting shoppers before they arrive (tastings, ambassadors, testimonials) and converting them in-store (starter kits, three-step instructions, comparable labelling, loyalty stamps). Its guiding principle: make bulk the easy, obvious choice by creating the conditions for the behaviour before trying to convince.
