The Challenge

The RENO+ programme offers residents two options for roof renovation: collective projects for economies of scale or a tailored individual service. Despite strong subsidies and technical guidance, many residents still hesitated, held back by habits, costs and uncertainty. Success depended on uncovering these frictions and finding practical ways to move

Our Approach

We mapped the full renovation journey to identify where residents got stuck, revealing over 90 behavioural barriers. Together with municipalities, contractors and residents, we co-created practical interventions and assigned clear ownership so solutions could be implemented smoothly and effectively.

The Result

RENO+ now has a step-by-step toolkit of barriers, solutions and practical examples that make renovation easier for residents and increase participation.

The preparatory work and workshop led by Behaven enabled us to cross-reference barriers from behavioural science with concrete feedback from our pilot project. The result: practical solutions and simple, pragmatic actions to remove these barriers and encourage homeowners to take action.
